Day 1

Day 1 (Destination - Cairns)

We got off to a late start with Brodie needing to go to a follow up doctors appointment which could not be postponed. It wasn't until around midday that we finally set off. The drive north was fairly uneventful except for a few road works slowing us down at the Cardwell range....oh, and Brodie farting (the kind that leave you gasping for air and winding down the window in a hurry).

We arrived in Cairns around 6pm, staying at the Crystal Cascades Caravan park. Set up camp, kids went for a swim in the pool, cooked tacos for dinner, and turned in for an early night.

The caravan park was clean and quite nice. We enjoyed our hot showers and flushing toilets for possibly the last time before we do without for the most part of our trip.
